Spretz

Widow Dorothea Spretz and her son Wilhelm arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Widow Doroth. Spretz and son Johann Willhelm (age 17½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Kaneau on 7 June 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 71.

In 1785, Wilhelm Spretz and his family moved from Kaneau to Rosenheim.

Wilhelm Spretz from Kaneau and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Rosenheim in Household No. Rm46.

The death of Wilhelm Spretz in 1806 is recorded on the 1811 census of Rosenheim in Household No. 46.

Christoph Friedrich Spretz, adopted son of Wilhelm Spretz, is recorded on the 1811 census of Rosenheim in Household No. 46 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Kaneau.

Johann Kaspar Spretz, son of Wilhelm Spretz, is recorded on the 1834 census of Rosenheim in Household No. 56 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Schwed in 1818.

Kaspar Spretz from Rosenheim and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Stahl am Karaman in Household No. 7 along with a note that he had arrived in Stahl am Karaman from Rosenheim in 1825.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Dorothea Spretz came from the German region of Zerbst.
