Stang (Walter)*
Philipp Stang, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the snow-brig Die Frau Dietrika under the command of Skipper Joachim Friedrich Luhn.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Walter on 10 September 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census along with his new wife Elisabeth.
Widower Philipp Stang and his son Johann Heinrich are recorded on the 1798 census of Walter in Household No. Wt013.
Heinrich Stang and his wife are recorded on the 1834 census of Walter in Household No. 64.
The 1767 census records that Philipp Stang came from the German village of Lautertal in the Hessen-Darmstadt region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Stang family among the Volga German colonies.
