Staub (Preuss)
Jakob Staub, a single painter (Kunstmaler), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 31 May 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 12 May 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 127 along with his new wife, Dorothea.
His widow and children are recorded on the 1798 census of Hildmann in Household No. Hd30.
The 1767 census records that Jakob Staub came from the German village of Mittelholz in the Kurtrier region.
