Georg Friedrich Adam Stechert, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 25 April 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 45.

The 1767 census records that Georg Friedrich Adam Stechert came from the German village of Bud in the region of Sachsen (Saxony). His wife Maria Anna is recorded as coming from the German region of Regensburg.
