Johann[es] Steinagel, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard the Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Müller on 16 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 27.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Steinagel came from the German village of Nieder Beerbach in the Darmstadt region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
