Jacob Steinmetz, son of Johann Michael Steinmetz, married Anna Christina Hartmann, daughter of Johann Georg Hartmann, on 16 January 1766 in the Evangelical Church in Offenbach (am Main), about 9 kilometers southeast of Frankfurt.
Jakob Steinmetz, a miller (Müller), and his wife Christina arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 27 May 1766 aboard a pinque named Слон (Slon - Elephant in Russian) under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Frank where they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 22.
On the 1798 census, the family is recorded in Frank in Household No. Fk019.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Steinmetz family among the Volga German colonies.
