Discussion & Documentation

Immanuel Stephan and his wife Maria arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 May 1766 aboard the galliot Надежда (Hope) under the command of Skipper Johann Erdmann Geske.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Husaren on 17 February 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 26.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Immanuel Stephan was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a member of the petty bourgeois (Kleinbürger).

The 1767 census records that Immanuel Stephan came from the city of Danzig in Prussia.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Stephan family among the Volga German colonies.
