Johann Georg Stertz, a cooper (Faßbinder), and his wife Jakobina settled in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in household No. 27.
The 1767 census records that Johann Georg Stertz came from the German village of Maikammer in the Bistum Speyer region.
