Christoph Streng [sic], a gemstone cutter (Edelsteinschleifer), his wife Elisabeth, and children (Christoph, age 10¼; Antonette, age 7; Christina, age 3) arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 April 1766 aboard a two-masted merchant ship named Der Kleine Andreas (The Little Andrew) under the command of Skipper Jacob Jensen.
Christoph Strang, a stone cutter (Steinschneider), his wife Elisabeth, and children (Christoph, age 11; Diana, age 8; Christina, age 4) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 106. They had settled there on 5 March 1767.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Christoph Strang came from the Dutch town of Amsterdam in Holland.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Strang family among the Volga German colonies.
