Christoph Strang, a stone cutter (Steinschneider), his wife Elisabeth, and children (Christoph, age 11; Diana, age 8; Christina, age 4) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 106. They had settled there on 5 March 1767.

They 1767 census records that Christoph Strang came from the Dutch town of Amsterdam in Holland.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
