Johann Heinrich Straub, his wife Katharina Elisabeth Winsel, children (Susanna Maria, age 10½; Heinrich Philipp, age 7; Maria Elisabeth, age 1¾), and father-in-law Konrad Winsel arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 July 1772 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Hartwig.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Pobochnaya on 4 July 1773.

They are recorded on a 1773 list of Pobochnaya settlers (No. 20).

Widow Katharina Elisabeth Straub, daughter Susanna Maria, and son-in-law Johann Peter Herdt are recorded on the 1798 census of Pobochnaya in Household No. Pb06.

There are no known suriviving male lines of this Straub family among the Volga German colonies.
