Discussion & Documentation:

Ferdinand Stuppert, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Gertrude, age 15; Ferdinand, age 13; Margaretha, age 11) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.

Ferdinand Stupart [sic], his wife Elisabeth, and children (Katharina Maria, age 18; Ferdinand, age 13; Margaretha, age 11) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that mother Elisabeth died en route.

Two orphaned Stuppert children are recorded on the 1767 census of Ober-Monjou.

(1) Katharina Stuppert (age 16) is recorded on the 1767 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 48 along with the Christian Weber family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Stuppert and Weber families.

(2) Johannes Stuppert (age 13) is recorded on the 1767 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 56 along with the Joseph Schmidt family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Stuppert and Schmidt families.

Johannes Stuppert and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. Om50.

The death of Johannes Stuppert in 1817 is recorded on the 1834 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 101.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Ferdinand Stuppert came from the German region of Köln. The 1767 census does not record from where the Stuppert children came.
