Suppes (Hussenbach-1)

Johann Martin Suppes, son of Heinrich Suppes, was born on 15 February 1715 in Unter-Seibertenrod.

Johan Martin Suppus [sic], a blacksmith (Schmidt [sic]) from the area of Riedesel, & Gerdrut [sic] Schotten née Rod, a widow from the area of Isenburg, were married on 29 July 1766 in Pastor Bruns's house in Lübeck. The marriage is recorded in the parish register of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church in Lübeck.

Martin Suppes, a farmer, his wife Gertruda, and children (Konrad, age 22; Anna, age 15; Johannes, age 12; Heinrich, age 8; Georg, age 5; Antonette, age 4) arrived from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 19 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Johann Hermann Anderson.

Johann Martin Suppes, his wife Gerdruth, and children (Conradt, age 22; Anna Elisabeth, age 16; Johannes, age 12; Johann Henrich, age 8) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that son Johann Henrich died en route.

They settled in the colony of Hussenbach in 1767. The 1798 census of Hussenbach records sons Johannes Suppes in Household No. Hs065 and Johann Konrad Suppes in Household No. Hs111.

Johannes Suppes and his family are recorded on the 1811 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 65.

The sons of Johannes Suppes and their families are recorded on the 1834 census of Hussenbach in Households No. 109 (Georg), 165 (Konrad), 179 (Ludwig), and 255 (Georg - again).

The elder Georg Suppes, son of Johannes Suppes, and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 279. They are also recorded on the 1857 census of Langenfeld.

Konrad Suppes, his son-in-law Albertus Propp, and grandsons are recorded on the 1811 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 111.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Martin Suppes came from the German region of Lauterbach.
