Discussion & Documentation

Johann Susdorf, a single weaver, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a pinque named Каргополь (Kargopol: a Russian City) under the command of Captain Lieutenant Moses Davydov.

Johannes Susdorf, a farmer, and his wife Anna Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 105 along with stepson Johannes Stein (age 12).

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Susdorf came from the German region of Fulda. The 1767 census records that Johannes Susdorf came from the German village of Lengfeld.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Susdorf family among the Volga German colonies.
