Peter Thomas, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Perepechin.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 2.
The 1767 census records that Peter Thomas came from the German village of Mannheim in the Kurpfalz region.
