Discussion & Documentation
Gottlieb Treu and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim on 27 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 25 along with his stepson Gottfried Schmidt.
The 1767 census records that Gottlieb Treu came from the German village of Schwerin in the Mecklenburg region and that his wife came from the German town of Königsberg in Prussia.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
