Discussion & Documentation

Baudreim van der Nauweland, a merchant (Kaufmann), settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 96 along with his wife Diana. It appears that his daughter is recorded in Household No. 75 married to Nikolaus Schulz.

Johanna Maria Schulz née van der Neuweland (age 39) and her family are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 1. [See Schulz Family.]

The 1767 census records that Baudreim van der Nauweland came from the village of Lezendar [?] in West-Holland while his daughter came from the village of Bebrinheim in West-Holland. The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that Johanna Maria Schulz née van der Neuweland came from West-Holland.

There are no known surviving male lines of this van der Nauweland family among the Volga German colonies.
