Johann Vasenacht, a farmer, his wife Eva, and children (Kaspar, age 8; Barbara, age 2¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard a ship named Die Perle under the command of Skipper Gerhardt Hermann Thomsen.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Leichtling on 14 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 40.
The Facius List records that Johannes Fassenach [sic] came from the German village of Aufenau. The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Vasenacht came from the German region of Friedberg. The 1767 census records that Johannes Vasenacht is from the German region of Orb.
There are no surviving male lines of this family, so the surname does not continue among the Volga German colonies.
