Widower Wilhelm Versteeg is recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 217 along with a note that he is working as a day-laborer (Lohnarbeiter). He has settled there on 5 March 1767.

The 1767 census records that Wilhelm Versteeg came from the Dutch town of Amsterdam in Holland.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
