Volk (Walter)
The parish records of Lengfeld (which include Ober Klingen and Nieder Klingen) record that Johann Nicolaus Volk, a widower, married Anna Catharina Lohnes, daughter of Johann Heinrich Lohnes, on 18 November 1755. Johann Nicolaus and Anna Catharina had a son Johann Peter who was born 30 December 1756.
The death of Magdalena Barbara Volck [sic], 5-year-old daughter of Joh. Nicolaus Volck from Ober Klingen in the Churpfalz [sic] region, is recorded on 14 May 1766 in the parish register of the Lutheran Church in Büdingen.
Johann Nikolaus Volk, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Maria Elisabeth, age 16; Johann Peter, age 10; Katharina, age 9; Maria Margaretha, age 4-weeks) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard the hooker Die Jungfer Dietrika.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Walter on 25 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 23.
The 1767 census records that Johann Nikolaus Volk came from the German village of Klingen in the Pfalz region.
