Jakob Volmer, a farmer, his wife Eva, and son Nikolaus (age 9) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Heidemann.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 28 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 19. Son Nikolaus is recorded on the 1798 census of Hildmann in Household No. Hd33.

The 1767 census records that Jakob Vollmer came from the German village of Berlingen in the Kurmainz region.
