Peter von Berg was born in approximately 1787 in the Dutch village of Nijmegen.
He served as a soldier in the Grenadier Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought against the Russians and was captured.
Milovidov records that as of 1814 his father, mother, two brothers, and a sister were still living in Nijmegen.
He was settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg assigned to the household of Johannes Becker.
He is recorded on the 1834 census of Warenburg in Household No. 216 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Moor. However, he does not appear on the 1834 census of Moor.
The list of soldiers records the surname as "von dem Berg."
