Discussion & Documentation

Joseph Wächter, his wife Elisabeth, and son Adam (age 4, died en route) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Elisabeth Wächter and her unnamed husband (a farmer) settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 19 August 1767. She is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 112 along with a note that the unnamed husband died 20 October 1767.

The 1767 census records that Elisabeth Wächter came from the German village of Appelbrun [?] in the region of Hanau.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
