Joseph Wächter, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 16 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 4.
The 1767 census records that Joseph Hecht came from the German village of Bleifeld bei Hoffnungsthal.
