Discussion & Documentation

Johann Ernst Wagner, a printer, his wife Johanna Sophia Dorothea, and children (Johann Bernhard, age 11; Elisabeth Margaretha, age 7; Susanna Elisabeth, age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the snow-brig Frei Gebruder under the command of Skipper Minzberger.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach. The 1798 census of Hussenbach records son Johann Bernhard Wagner in Household No. Hs108.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Ernst Wagner came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony).
