Georg Weiner [sic] was born approximately 1781 in the German village of Hof in the region of Prussia.
He served as a soldier in the 11th Austrian Infantry Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought against and was captured by the Russians.
In 1819 [sic] came to the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt from an illegible location as a prisoner of war.
He is recorded there on the 1834 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 351 along with a note that he had relocated to the colony of Göbel in 1827.
Georg Wanner and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Göbel in Household No. 124.
The death of Georg Wanner in 1852 is recorded on the 1857 census of Göbel in Household No. 166.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Wanner family among the Volga German colonies.
