Discussion & Documentation

There are two Weber families who arrived together from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg. They both settled in the Volga German colony of Huck on 1 Juy 1767. Their relationship to each other is not recorded, but based upon their ages they could be father and son.

(1) Wolf Heinrich Weber, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.

Wolf Heinrich Weber (age 59), a farmer, and his wife Anna Katharina are recorded on the 1767 census of Huck in Household No. 35 along with Wilhelm Justus, son of the deceased Philipp Justus. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Weber and Justus families.

(2) Johann[es] Weber, a farmer, and his wife Charlotta arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.

Johannes Weber (age 30), a farmer, his wife Charlotta, and son Johann Heinrich (age ¾) are recorded on the 1767 census of Huck in Household No. 39.

Son [Johann] Heinrich Weber and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Huck in Household No. Hk20.

Wilhelm Weber, presumed son of Johannes Weber, and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Huck in Household No. Hk95.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that these Weber families came from the German region of Isenburg.
