Johannes Weidemann, son of Andreas Weidemann & Anna Barbara Föller, was born 18 September 1734 in Ilbeshausen, Darmstadt, Germany. His lineage can be traced to Conrad Weydemann, born about 1640, of Audra, Eichsfeld, Germany.
Johann Weidemann, a weaver, his wife Margaretha, and daughter Anna Margaretha (age 5) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Frank in 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 64.
