Heinrich Ludwig Weigel, a goldsmith (Goldschmied), and his wife Anna Pastern are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 120. They had arrived there on 1 March 1767.
Heinrich Ludwig Weigel and his wife Elisabeth née Pastern are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 164 along with a note that they have been in Kazan since 1773. [See Pastern Family.]
The 1767 census records that Heinrich Ludwig Weigel came from the German town of Leipzig in Sachsen (Saxony). The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register also records that he came from Leipzig and that his wife came from the German village of Grünberg in the region of Hessen Darmstadt.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Weigel family among the Volga German colonies.
