Wendel Weil, a single chimney sweep (Schornsteinfeger), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Vergelte Weintraube under the command of Skipper Anderson.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 172.
The 1767 census records that Wendel Weil came from the German village of Springen [?] in Hessen-Kassel.
