The parish register of St. Andreas Church in Neuenberg records the birth of Johann Adam Weitz, son of Johann Adam & Magdalena Weitz, on 25 December 1726.
The marriage of Johann Adam Weitz to Maria Gertrude Weinbörner [Weinbender per later records], widow of Johann Georg Weinbörner, is recorded on 24 November 1763 in the parish register of St. Blasius Catholic Church in Fulda.
Adam Weiss, a farmer, his wife Maria, and [step]children (Katharina, age 17½; Johann [Georg], age 12; Andreas, age 11) [surname of stepchildren is Weinbender according to later records] arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the barque named Fortitudo under the command of Skipper John Scott.
Johann Adam Weitz [sic], his wife Gerdruta, and [step-]children (Sophia Barbara, age 19; Johann Georg [Weinbender], age 15; Andreas [Weinbender], age 13) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Köhler on 21 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 38.
Adam Weiss is recorded on the 1798 census of Köhler in Household No. Kl29.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Adam Weiss came from the German region of Fulda.
There are no surviving male lines of this Weis(s)/Weitz family among the Volga German colonies.
