Discussion & Documentation

Anna Katharina Werth, widow of Konrad Werth, and her family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the galliot named Kronshlot under the command of Skipper Ivan Kunakovskii.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim on 15 March 1766 and Anna Katharina remarried to Johannes Scheidt. The combined Scheidt-Werth family is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 62.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that the Werth family came from the German region of Dienheim.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Werth family among the Volga German colonies.
