Martin Wickhardt, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20.

In 1788, Martin Wickart and his family moved from Louis to Katharinenstadt.

The 1767 census records that Martin Wickhardt came from the German village of Hosenfeld in the region of Fulda.
