Discussion & Documentation

Jean Baptist Wido was born in approximately 1791, probably in France.  He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.

He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental.

The marriage of Johannes Baptiste Witto [sic] from "Flanderitum" [Belgium?] married in Mariental on 29 October 1814 to Elisabeth Mertis.

His death in 1834 is recorded on the 1834 census of Mariental in Household No. 210.
