Bernhard Wilhelm, a wagon maker (Cyrillic = колесник, literally chariot), and his wife Anna settled in the Volga German colony of Philippsfeld on 17 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 9 along with orphan Philipp Ludwig (age 16). There is no relationship recorded between the Wilhelm and Ludwig families.
The 1767 census records that Bernhard Wilhelm came from the German village of Bischhausen bei Waldkappel.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Wilhelm family among the Volga German colonies.
