Windschuh

Peter Windschuh, a weaver (Leineweber), his wife Wilhelmina, and children (Gottfried, age 10¼; Maria, age 8; Johann, age 2) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a ship named Die Zwei Gebrüder (The Two Brothers) under the command of Skipper Nicolaus Peter Pinck.

Johann Winschu [sic], his wife Wilhelmina, and children (Gottfried, age 10¼; Sophia, age 9; Joh. Friedrich, age 2½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that father Johann and son Joh. Friedrich died en route.

Peter Winschu [sic], a weaver (Leineweber), his wife Wilhelmina, and children (Gottfried, age 12; Elisabeth, age 10) are recorded on the 1767 census of Cäsarsfeld in Household No. 10. They had arrived in Cäsarsfeld on 3 August 1767.

Peter Winschu [sic] (age 41), a cloth maker (Zeugmacher), his wife Herika [Henrietta] née von Bromel (widow Karlin) (age 31), children (Gottfried, age 18; Maria Elisabeth, age 16; Johann, age 15; Maria, age 5), and step-sons (Friedrich Karlin, age 8; Michael Karlin, age 4) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 113 along with a note that son Christian Friedrich was born 30 January 1777. In 1798, most of the descendants of this Windschuh family are recorded in Katharinenstadt.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Peter Windschuh came from the German region of Zerbst. The 1767 census records that Peter Windschuh came from the German town of Rosslau. The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that Peter Winschu [sic] came from the German town of Rosslau in the region of Anhalt Zerbst and that his wife came from Armeiden [sic] in Holland [The Netherlands].
