Asmus Winick, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Holstein on 26 May 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 11.

In 1788, widower Heinrich Wenig and his son moved from Holstein to Kraft.

The 1767 census records that Asmus Winick came from the German region of Dreihof.
