Winterberg (Paulskaya)*
Leonhard Winterberg, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.
Leonhard Weinberger [sic] is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Paulskaya and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 7 along with the Gottlieb Lehmann family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Lehmann & Winterberg families.
In 1786, Leonhard Winterberg moved from Paulskaya to the Caucasus where he died.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Leonhard Winterberg came from the German region of Bayreuth.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
