Widower Jonas Wittke, a shipbuilder (Schiffbauarbeiter), settled in the Volga German colony of Kratzke on 7 August 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 16.
The 1767 census records that Jonas Wittke came from the village of Stralsund in Swedish Pomerania.
The Wittke surname does not appear to continue among the Volga German colonies.
