Discussion & Documentation

Johann Gottlieb Woewot, a craftsman (Handwerker), settled in the Volga German colony of Schulz on 8 September 1766. He and his family are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 14.

The 1767 census records that Johann Gottlieb Woewot came from the German village of Osterode in the region of Prussia. His wife, Anna Maria, is recorded there as coming from the city of Danzig.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
