Johann Walter [sic], a farmer, his wife Anna, and daughter Anna (age 10¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.
Johann Ernst Walter [sic], his wife Catharina, and daughter Anna Dorothea [age not recorded] are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johann Ernst Wolter, a Prussian Husar (preußischer Husar), his wife Katharina, and daughter Dorothea (age 11) are recorded on the 1767 census of Paulskaya in Household No. 12 along with the orphaned Gonohorn brothers (Andreas, age 15; Michael, age 11). The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Wolter and Gonohorn families.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Walter [sic] came from the German region of Halle. The 1767 census records that Johann Ernst Wolter came from the German village of Pilow in the Halle region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Wolter family among the Volga German colonies.
