Johannes Wurst, his wife Anna, and son Georg (age 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 28 August 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.
Johann Wurst, a teacher (Lehrer), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Beauregard on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 62 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Näb in 1768.
The Oranienbaum passenger list does not record from where Johannes Wurst came. The 1767 census records that Johann Wurst came from the German region of Wittenrot.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Wurst family among the Volga German colonies.
