There are two Zwickau families that arrived together from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.
(1) Christian Zwickau, a single man, arrived in Oranienbaum.
Christian Zwickau is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Boisroux on 7 June 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 14 along with his new wife Sophia.
Christian Zwickau, presumed to be the son of Christian Zwickau is recorded on the 1798 census of Boisroux in Household No. Bx52 along with a note that he is working in Schaffhausen.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christian Swickau was a tailor from the German region of Zerbst. The 1767 census records that he was a Prussian Soldier (preußische Husar) from the village of Grobau.
(2) Johann Zwickau, a teacher, and his wife Dorothea arrived in Oranienbaum.
Andreas Zwickau and his wife Dorothea are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They have not been located on the 1767 census of the Volga German colonies.
