Biography: 

Dr. Karl W. Aschenbrenner, son of John Aschenbrenner & Elizabeth Schnell, was born 20 November 1911 in Bison, Kansas, to Volga German parents from the colony of Norka. They later moved to Portland, Oregon, where he spent most of his childhood. He died 4 July 1988 while conducting research in Budapest, Hungary.

Aschenbrenner was an American philosopher and specialist in analytic philosophy and aesthetics. He was the author and editor of more than 48 publications including five monographs, 27 articles, and 16 book reviews. His principal academic post was at the University of California, Berkeley in the Department of Philosophy.
