He was arrested again in the spring of 1935 and sentenced to exile for 5 years in the region of Novosibirsk where he died on 12 November 1942.
He married Paulina Arnst (born in 1904 in the colony of Reinhard; died 11 March 1989 in the Orenburg region). They had three daughters: Frida (born in 1922, in the colony of Reinhard), Hilda (born 1926), and Isolde (born 1930).
