Friedenstal, Alberta
Friedenstal was founded in 1910 by Peters Gans and Lewis Flath. German immigrants settled in and around Friedenstal. They came directly from Germany, from the Bessarabian colonies, and from Volga German colonies.
In 1911, under the leadership of Rev. A Biehler O.M.I. a small chapel was built in Friedenstal to serve the Roman Catholic members of the surrounding community. In 1921, Father William Ebert lead the constrction of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Friedenstal. The St. Boniface parish was closed in the 1970s, but the church building is still maintained.
