Schilling, Azov District, Omsk Oblast (Siberia)

In 1895, a Volga German family from Schilling arrived in the resettlement area of Sos-Koduk. They founded the village of Schilling (called Sosnovka in Russian), and were joined by 53 additional families in the summer of 1896.

The first winter was harsh and about two dozen families moved to other parts of Russia and some to America. Two families returned to the Volga region.

By 1909, there was a steam mill in the village, 2 grocery stores, and 2 bars.

In 1930, the collective farm called "Clara Zetkin" was created. In 1939, mass collectivization occurred in this region.

During WWII, many of the inhabitants were put into forced labor camps from which they returned in the mid-1950s. In the early 1990s, migration to Germany began, but immigrants from Kazakhstan and Central Asia took their places.
