History

From the 13th century until 1918 (and briefly during the Nazi occupation of Estonia from 1941 to 1944), the city was known as Reval [Rewal in German]. Reval is located in the historical German region of Estland. Today, it is called Tallinn and is located in Estonia.

Over the years, Volga German companies had business interests in Reval. Volga German families also sent their children to Reval for higher education.
