Johann Caspar Herget [sic], son of Heinrich Herget & Agnes Hoffmann, was born in 1705 in Bindsachsen. He married in 1728 in Ortenberg to Christina Maria Pforsdorfer. He married in 1733 in Wenings to Amalia Maria Nagelschmidt. He married 3rd wife Barbara Maria Schleuning. They had at least one son, Conrad Wilhelm , born in Nieder-Seemen in 1742. Barbara was born in 1715 and died in Nieder-Seemen on 12 September 1747.
He married in Nieder-Seemen on 21 March 1749 to his 4th wife Anna Elisabetha Pflock, daughter of Johann Georg Pflock & Elisabetha Steer from Eichelsachsen. Anna Elisabetha Pflock had been baptized 11 May 1722 in Wingershausen.
Johann Caspar and Anna Elisabetha had six children born in Nieder-Seemen: (1) Anna Elisabetha, born 22 December 1749, baptized 26 December 1749; (2) Nicolaus, born 18 June 1751, baptized 20 June 1751; (3) Anna Cunigunda, born 6 September 1753, baptized 9 September 1753; (4) Johann Heinrich, born 28 March 1756, baptized 30 March 1756; (5) Johannes, born 28 March 1759, baptized 31 March 1759; and (6) Johann Caspar, born 9 January 1762, baptized 10 January 1762. Mother Anna Elisabetha Hergert née Pflock died 2 October 1763.
Widower Johann Kaspar Hergert, a stocking maker, and his children (Julianna, age 20; Johanna Elisabeth, age 18; Nikolaus, age 16; Anna Kunigunda, age 14½; Johann, age 8; Johann Kaspar, age 5) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl along with an older son Johann Wilhelm [should be Konrad Wilhelm] Hergert & his wife Maria Elisabeth.
Johann Casp. Herget [sic] and his children (Juliane, age 20; Joh. Elisab., age 18; Nicolaus, age 16; Anna Cunigunda, age 14; Johannes, age 8; Joh. Caspar, age 5) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Conrad [Wilhelm], along with his wife Maria Elisabeth, and daughter Julianna (age 6-months) arrived in Yagodnaya Polyana on 16 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 32. Also living in the household are his siblings: Anna Kunigunde (age 14) and Johann (age 8).
Nikolaus Hergert (age 17) and his brother Johann Kaspar (age 6) are recorded on the 1767 census of Yagodnaya Polyana in Household No. 42 along with brother-in-law Michael Lahnert who was married to their oldest sister Julianna Hergert.
In 1783, Johann & Kaspar Hergert moved from Yagodnaya Polyana to Frank, and then to Dönhof where Kaspar is recorded on the 1798 census in Household No. Dh071. Johann settled in the colony of Walter where he is recorded on the 1798 census in Household No. Wt044.
Kaspar Hergert, Adam Hergert, Georg Peter Hergert, Heinrich Johannes Hergert, Georg Hergert, and Daniel Hergert from Yagodnaya Polyana and their families are recorded on the 1857 census of Neu-Yagodnaya-Polyana.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Kaspar Hergert came from the German region of Stolberg. The 1767 census records that Konrad Wilhelm Hergert came from the German village of Niederseeman in the Nidda region.
Descendants of this family moved to the daughter colony of Brunnental.
