Köhler (Unknown)*

Georg Michael Köhler was born about 1731, the son of Georg Köhler. It is thought that he was born in Hengstfeld im Au. He married on 14 August 1755 in Reiskirchen, near Giessen, to Anna Catharina Peter. She had been baptized there on 4 March 1728. They have three known children, all born in Reiskirchen: (1) Johann Philipp, born 11 November 1760; (2) Anna Catharina, born 14 March 1761; and (3) Anna Elisabeth, born 11 December 1763.

Georg Köhler, a baker, his wife Anna, and children (Georg [sic], age 10; Anna, age 8; Elisabeth, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the galliot Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Johann Joachim Janson.

Georg Michael Keller [sic], his wife Anna, and children (Bernhard [sic], age 10¼; Anna Cath., age 8; Elisabeth, age 2½; Margaretha, born in route) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that newborn Margaretha also died in route.

Georg Michael Köhler, a baker (Bäcker), his wife Katharina, and children (Georg, age 10; Katharina, age 8 ; Elisabeth, age 4) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 15.

It is not known in which colony they settled.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Georg Köhler came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Georg Michael Köhler came from the German village of Reiskirchen in the Darmstadt region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Köhler family among the Volga German colonies.
