Johann Ludwig Schick was baptized on 26 July 1711 in Neckarbischofsheim, southeast of Heidelberg. His parents were Hans Jakob Schick & Anna Katharina Seyffert. He married Katharina Margaretha (surname unknown) who had been born in 1726.
They had five children, each baptized in the Neckarbischofsheim Lutheran Church: (1) Johann Georg Balthasar (born 19 July 1748; baptized 21 July 1748); (2) Johann Jakob (born 17 January 1751; baptized 18 January 1751); (3) Anna Barbara (born 31 March 1754; baptized 1 April 1754); (4) Georg Philipp (born 30 September 1757; baptized 2 October 1757); and (5) Eva Dorothea (born 22 November 1759; baptized 24 November 1759).
Johann Ludwig and his family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein), departing from Altona on 24 May 1762. All of them except Eva Dorothea arrived in the city of Flensburg, Duchy of Schleswig, on 29 May 1762. The Schick family lived in Denmark until 24 April 1765.
They immigrated to Russia. During the journey to the Volga German colonies, a new baby was born in 1765; they named her Margaretha Dorothea. Also during the journey, the eldest boy, Balthasar, married a girl named Maria (surname unknown). They arrived in Galka on 12 April 1766. Johann Ludwig Schick is recorded on in Galka 1767 Census in Household No. 36; his son Balthasar is registered there in Household No. 37.
Johann Ludwig died at some point before 1798. His descendants are recorded in Galka on the 1798 census in Households No. Gk13 & Gk40. Daughters Anna Barbara (born 1754) and Margaretha Dorothea (born 1765) married Beisel men and moved to neighboring Dreispitz where they are recorded on the 1798 Census in Households No. Dr28 & Dr30.
Johann Georg Schick, his brother Johann Friedrich Schick, and their families from Galka are recorded on the 1857 census of Oberdorf in Household No. 44.
